A&S stands for Assisted and Slipper type of Clutch, it is a specially designed for performance motorcycle. It’s internal construction is built in such a way so it is capable of reducing lever control force and the back torque caused by sudden engine braking and downshifting of gear.

The Benefits of A&S Clutch
fcc Assist and Slipper (A&S) clutch uses lighter clutch springs which makes the clutch lever lighter to pull, making the bike more comfortable to ride. And another benefit is it can partially disengage from the engine to cancel the force sent to the engine by the rear wheel, making for gentler chassis behavior and a more comfortable and enjoyable ride.
How A&S Clutch Works
The slipper clutch assembly has been designed with inner ramps for the basket and pressure plate as well. The unique ramp-type system allows the discs to partially disengage from the pressure plate when the speed of the wheels is much faster than the speed of the engine. This causes a slipping effect, which in turn lessens and smooths out the effects of sudden, jerky engine braking. Conversely, these ramps force the clutch discs and pressure plate to mechanically push against each other while the clutch is engaged and the engine is moving the transmission.
